About the Domaine de la Viallette

Henri CORDESSE was born on 3 September 1891 in the building "La Bergerie" at "LA VIALETTE".
During the Second World War, he became the leader of the Lozere Resistance. An important meeting took place on 10 August 1944 at "LA VIALETTE

Le domaine regroupe plusieurs bâtiments :

  • Two sheds, one of which houses Jean FAGES' tractor exhibition.
  • Two stone buildings housing the three gîtes “l'Atelier” and “le Pavillon de chasse”, and “La maison Caussenarde”.
  • “La Grange en pierres” (the stone barn), with its Philibert DELORME-style framework (in the shape of a ship's hull), houses Anne-Marie's kitchen for table d'hôte meals, and the heated swimming pool.
  • “La Bergerie” houses the 5 guest rooms.
  • A wellness area with sauna and jacuzzi (37°), outdoor Nordic bath, facing nature on the west-facing terrace for lounging in a green setting.
  • A bowling green in the park .
  • The owner's house.

Philibert Delorme's wooden frame

The stone barn has a magnificent Philibert Delorme-style roof framework recently completely renovated. This type of framework, with an inverted ship's hull shape, is a wonderful architectural achievement, which gives this building something of magic.
